What is a Softaria Web Desktop Manager?
Shortly, it is a solution similar to Windows Explorer or Gnome desktop in Linux. Except, it works in web-browser and is is written in GWT. As you probably already guessed, this site is made with Softaria Web Desktop Manager.
Web Desktop Manager allows running GWT widgets in draggable and resizable windows organized in so-called desktops. These windows can be navigated through built-in menu. Additionally, in contrast to a lot of GWT-based applications this system is

URL-driven
It means that you may copy the URL from browser, send it to your friend and he will able to open window with the same content.
Search engine friendly
It may provide the same content for web-clients (including search bots) without javascript support

Main purpose of this system is to be used for building multi windows business applications with rich web interface. However, it can be used to build web sites, e.g. like this.

Technical overview

From technical point of view, Softaria Desktop Manager is a pure GWT module. So, it can be used in any GWT application as a library.
It can be easily integrated into traditional web application, as external javascript, and vice-versa, standard HTML pages can be inserted into the Desktop Manager's windows.
